“The designer Valentino, always a pleasure to photograph, was leaving the Pierre Hotel after rehearsals for an upcoming fashion show in New York. I had been photographing him for about half an hour. When he left I walked outside with him and as he rolled down the window to say goodbye, I took the photograph that turned out to be the one we liked best for the shoot. I was pleased when Valentino chose this photograph to be the cover of the invitation for his gala retirement extravaganza.” – Harry Benson
