Brandon Herman
Brandon Herman is a Los Angeles-based artist who works in photography, painting, sculpture, video, and performance. He graduated with a BFA in Photography and Film from the Rhode Island School of Design in 2006. Since then he has been exhibiting his work in group and solo shows worldwide. His photographs have been published in Artforum, American Photo, Vice Photo Book, Flaunt, and Nylon.
A relatively young photographer (b. 1983), Herman explores his generation’s culture and society. Among his interests are the mass media, consumerism, paparazzi, YouTube and the Internet, suburbia, psychology, and human desire. After much research and planning, he constructs situations that explore these themes with models of his choosing. In 2007, he produced a yearlong project that was inspired by the high-profile abductions of Polly Klaas and Patricia Hearst. His work is new, diverse, and fascinating.
