Amer Fort, located in Amer, near Jaipur in Rajasthan, India, is a magnificent fort complex known for its blend of Hindu Rajputana and Mughal architecture. Built primarily by Raja Man Singh I in the late 16th century and later expanded by subsequent rulers, Amer Fort served as the main residence of the Rajput Maharajas of Jaipur until Jaipur city was established.
The fort is perched atop a hill, overlooking Maota Lake, and is accessed through a series of gates, including the impressive Suraj Pol (Sun Gate). Inside, Amer Fort boasts intricate palaces, courtyards, and temples. Notable structures within the fort include the Diwan-i-Aam (Hall of Public Audience) with its beautifully carved pillars, the Diwan-i-Khas (Hall of Private Audience) adorned with intricate mosaic work and mirrored ceilings, and the Sheesh Mahal (Palace of Mirrors) known for its dazzling mirror work.
The architecture of Amer Fort reflects a harmonious blend of Rajput and Mughal styles, characterized by elaborate carvings, frescoes, and marble inlays.
