The exhibition, "Through A Painter's Lens" brings the exploration of how painting influences photography into a contemporary arena. In surveying the photographers included in this exhibition, the photographer's interest can be in referencing painting and specific artists as is Folberg's, French impressionist inspired oeuvre. Dittenborn parodies early religious and still life paintings setting them in a seeming time warp complete with toy figures. In Schonzeit 's work - his own paintings are often used as both subject and subtext in his photography. Horvat’s,"Vrai Semblance" photographic series portrays female models fashioned to look as if they are from well-known paintings. Tavormina recreates Dutch still lifes that softly glow with their dark, halo lighting. Leiter is also both a painter and a photographer. His early use of color pays homage to the American painters of the 30's.
