Roberto Edwards
Santiago, Chile, b. 1937

Roberto Edwards (born in 1937) is a Chilean photographer and entrepreneur.  He founded the Cuerpos Pintados Experimental Workshop in 1981.  The objective of Cuerpos Pintados is to explore, through direct body painting, the infinite potential for expression the human form offers.

Over 100 internationally renowned painters have been invited to produce work at Cuerpos Pintados.  Each artist is encouraged to have a personal, unique vision and is allowed total aesthetic freedom while exploring the diversity of the human body.

Roberto Edwards’s photographs capture the creative, spontaneous collaboration between the artist’s and their models.  The resulting painted bodies become dynamic three-dimensional canvases with an unlimited range of forms, shapes and colors.

Roberto Edwards’s photographs, from Cuerpos Pintados, have received great critical acclaim.  His exhibitions have traveled to approximately 35 major museums throughout the world.  Over 1,500,000 people have seen them.
